We are confirmed to provide lunch for the residents of the Tunnel to Towers / US Vets Veterans Village on their Beach/Fishing Trip to Surfside on Saturday June 6th.  This is at the Surfside Jetty Park in Brazoria County south of Freeport.  We cooked for them at this event last year and it was a good time.  I have heard from some of our great cookers who have volunteered to bring grills and flip burgers and hot dogs for the vet's.  As last time, I think we will keep this simple and keep in mind that it is likely to be hot out there.  We are planning to make 80 each hamburgers and hot dogs, and serve those with chips and some ice cold water melon.  I think US Vets or other volunteers will be providing the drinks but I'm waiting to get confirmation on that.

If anyone would like to volunteer to get, ice and bring watermelon that would be great!  Last year we had (I think) 6 watermelons, which I thought would disappear fast, but to my surprise we had a lot of watermelon left over.  So if I remember right, 6 melons will easily do it.  We can split this task up if we get a few people to volunteer on this.  Let me hear from you if you would be willing to bring a couple of water melons please.

If you can join us, please plan to be there around 10-11 am to help serve lunch to the veterans from Veterans Village. Last year parking was pretty tight at the park so carpooling might be a good plan.
