Midtown Terrace

March 25, 2017

Tailgaters,

We had a great time at Midtown last Saturday. We served over 600 meals and the weather turned out to be perfect once we got past the early overcast and drizzle. Organizations represented by volunteers were: Mission Bend United Methodist Church, St. Timothy’s Anglican in Spring, First United Methodist of Sugar Land, Trinity Anglican of Lago Vista, Kiwanis Houston Sunrise, Goya Foods, Costello Inc., Texans Tailgate Response Unit, Gathering of Eagles, and hopefully I didn’t miss anyone else. If so let me know. The Band of Brothers from St. Tim’s have a lot of really good pictures from last Saturday at:

Now on to the next one! We are planning a ROAD TRIP to the VA Hospital in Temple for Saturday May 6th. Our friends with Trinity Anglican Church in Lago Vista (northwest of Austin) came down to watch the crew in action at Midtown last Saturday. Trinity Anglican is a sister church to St. Tim’s (if I have that right) and they have just started a BBQ ministry and will be cooking also at the Temple VA Tailgate. We are planning to cook a total of about 450 meals in 3 cooking groups as a late lunch starting at 1:30 at the Temple VA. This will be at the large pond on or next to the Temple VA campus and I understand the pond will be stocked in advance and there may be some fishing involved for the vet’s. The guys from St. Tim’s will also be cooking in Temple as well as Mr. Tailgate himself, Ray Condron and crew from Mission Bend UMC. Much more to follow on that one but mark your calendars if you want to make the road trip to Temple on May 6th. Temple is about 3 hours or a little less from Houston – no I don’t know if there is a Bucky’s in between.

More to follow.
